About The Linguist

Zach's Music & Language Journey

IMG_2105.JPG

A long time ago, Zachary Sullivan was a teenager, and though he didn't have that much interest in music or playing an instrument, when he was about 15, he began to enjoy some songs from a certain musical group. Wanting to learn guitar and piano, he took some lessons. He continued playing for fun throughout high school and at the university, where he enrolled in Classical Guitar courses. He explored various genres of music including rock, blues, pop, reggae, etc. He plays guitar regularly, but also enjoys bass, piano, lute harp, ukulele, occasional djembe, and psaltery. Zachary began songwriting more in college and later studied music more in depth with books and reading notes, teaching beginners from out of the Alfred's Basic Guitar Method courses at a local reputable music school near Birmingham. Zachary really enjoys language and music and sees the two as interconnected, as music and lyrics go together and languages have rhythms. Zachary is also a foreign language instructor and enjoys language learning very much. He is fluent in German, advanced in Hebrew, has ESL experience and can teach the basics of some other languages such as Spanish.

German Tutoring

German is one of the top languages of the world. People who want to work for a German-based company improve their likelihood to be hired or promoted if they have German language skills. Germans value hard work, precision, and order. English speakers may find it easier to learn German since English has a large Germanic vocabulary base. English is classified as a Germanic language even though a lot of its vocabulary is Latin-based. The German language uses all of the English alphabet plus a few extras. Start having fun learning the culture and the language of one of the world's richest cultures.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

If English isn't your first language, you can brush up on grammar and proper speaking by conversing with a native speaker who can correct errors as you go. Expand vocabulary, fill in knowledge gaps, and practice writing skills with a personal ESL tutor.

Spanish Tutoring

Spanish speaking skills are an excellent asset to have in the southern United States. Whether you are ordering food at a Mexican restaurant or happen to be touring Europe with Spain in your travel plans, Spanish is beneficial to know and understand. It takes time and practice to learn a language. Go through some basics of the language with Zach the Linguist and expand your language knowledge.

Hebrew Tutoring

They say if one person knows only an Aleph (first letter in the Hebrew alphabet) and another person knows an Aleph and a Bet (first and second letters of the Hebrew alphabet), then it is the duty of the latter to share. Hebrew is the ancient language used in the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings of the Holy Bible. Today the Hebrew language has been modernized in the land of Israel. The Hebrew alphabet contains 22 main characters, 5 of which also have a different form at the end of a word. There exist differences in sentence structure and grammar today between Modern and Biblical Hebrew. If this sparks your interest, invest in a tutor to help get started.
